To the left of the photo (Hearing Aid Centre) used to be Pooles tobacconist and newsagents in the 60/70's. Follow that lane down for about 20 yards and it split into a fork with Dixons shoe repair shop at the junction. The right hand lane was West St. which was flanked by a row of terraced cottages on the left hand side. The bottom of the lane led into Westfield Museum and then into Westfield Park. The modernised park can still be seen toward the bottom of Meadow Rd.
Correction. Not Westfield Park but Westfield Gardens.
